Rehabilitation: the importance of exercise therapy

Exercise therapy, or patient-led rehabilitation, is a fundamental part of active recovery. It is essential for nearly all musculoskeletal issues and for maintenance in cases of neurodegenerative diseases.

To avoid prolonged recovery times, it’s crucial that this training is conducted correctly and consistently. In this regard, professional supervision, for example by a healthcare provider or physiotherapist, is vital.

However, there are situations where direct supervision isn’t feasible, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlighted a lack of effective solutions for remote assistance and monitoring of rehabilitation patients.

Euleria Health and digital rehabilitation

Born to bridge this gap, Euleria Health is an innovative startup, incubated by Bio4Dreams, that distributes clinically validated and certified medical devices and offers services to allow rehabilitation treatments – in both clinical and home settings, even remotely – for patients with musculoskeletal and neurological issues.

Between sensors and software platforms

The company has developed a kit with wearable motion sensors. This kit is paired with a dedicated software platform that turns exercises into a videogame, improving patient adherence to rehabilitation. Additionally, it allows movement professionals to measure patients’ rehabilitation performance in real-time and guide their improvement.

✌️ The Kari4COVID-19 project entered Phase 2 of testing, involving orthopedic and sports cases thanks to three new rehabilitation centers: Flexor Lab (PG), CS F-Medical Group (FR), Studio Medico Kinesis (VA). 💸 Following the Kari4COVID-19 project – dedicated to promoting COVID-19 technologies in Trentino as part of the third call by Fondazione VRT – the Foundation reaffirmed its confidence in Euleria‘s mission, proclaiming it a winner also of a second funding, in the context of the “Innovation for Market Launch 2020” call, for the telemedicine, televisit, and telerehabilitation section.

📊 The trial between July and August collected significant feedback from patients and therapists about Kari. The results were presented on October 9, 2020, in Trento, at the Fondazione Caritro. Kari achieved an average usability SUS (System Usability Scale) score of 65.55, considered optimal. 💡 Euleria obtained funding through the third call by FondazioneVRT for promoting COVID-19 technologies in Trentino, thanks to the Kari4COVID-19 project. This project also involves the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) and consists of a portable device for remote rehabilitation of vulnerable individuals, with anxiety and stress management through a pulse oximeter. The system will soon be tested at the A.T.S.M. Franca Martini.
