{"id":20352,"date":"2025-12-19T16:44:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T15:44:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bio4dreams.com\/?p=20352"},"modified":"2025-12-19T16:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T15:44:07","slug":"nerd-project-funded-to-advance-training-in-precision-oncology-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bio4dreams.com\/en\/nerd-project-funded-to-advance-training-in-precision-oncology-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"NERD project funded to advance training in precision oncology medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bio4Dreams <\/strong>is the lead partner <strong>of NERD<\/strong>, a <strong>project funded<\/strong> under the Interreg Italy\u2013Switzerland Programme, aimed at <strong>developing new key skills<\/strong> to strengthen competitiveness in <strong>precision oncology medicine<\/strong> in Lombardy and Canton Ticino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A project for training and competitiveness in precision oncology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NERD <\/strong>(<strong>Next generation diagnostics<\/strong>: cross-border network for the development and transfer of molecular methodologies in precision oncology medicine) was created to address a concrete challenge: the <strong>shortage of specialized professionals<\/strong>, which today represents one of the main limiting factors to the growth and competitiveness of companies active in <strong>precision medicine<\/strong> in Lombardy and Canton Ticino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project foresees the creation of an <strong>interdisciplinary training pathway<\/strong> integrating molecular biology, bioinformatics, and technology transfer, structured across multiple levels. Activities include the exchange of young researchers among partner laboratories, courses within doctoral schools, two summer schools dedicated to bioinformatics and entrepreneurship, and a Level I Master\u2019s degree in Molecular Pathology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In parallel, the project will develop an <strong>innovative platform<\/strong> to support the <strong>early identification of tumor response to targeted therapies<\/strong>. Two proof-of-principle studies are planned to test and validate the platform, one focused on glioblastoma and the other on prostate cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bio4Dreams as lead partner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bio4Dreams leads a consortium<\/strong> involving six additional academic and industrial partners specialized in biotechnology and bioinformatics: Nuova Genetica Italiana (a startup incubated in Bio4Dreams), Stemgen S.p.A., the University of Insubria, the University of Milano-Bicocca, the Foundation for the Institute of Oncology Research (Canton Ticino), and BigOmics Analytics SA (Canton Ticino).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The budget allocated to Bio4Dreams amounts to \u20ac212,814.00, with a <strong>non-repayable grant of \u20ac170,251.20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Interreg Italy\u2013Switzerland call and its objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project was submitted under Specific Objective 1.1 of the <strong>Interreg Italy\u2013Switzerland call<\/strong>, dedicated to strengthening research and innovation capacities and fostering technology transfer.
