Avanchair: technology serving inclusive mobility

Avanchair, an innovative SME with a social mission, was founded in 2019 and is based in Milan. It develops cutting-edge solutions to improve the autonomy of people with motor disabilities by combining robotics, automation, and medical-scientific expertise.

The company has designed Avanchair One, an advanced electric wheelchair intended to simplify users’ everyday movements. At the core of its innovation is a patented assisted transfer system that enables the seat to rise, lower, and move laterally to align with the surface the user wants to reach. This system makes transfers safer and more autonomous, reducing physical strain both for the person and their caregivers.

Notable advanced features include a lateral stabilizer, developed to prevent tipping, and a height adjustment system that improves access to shelves and elevated surfaces in settings such as supermarkets, offices, and public spaces.

Throughout its development, Avanchair has partnered with major players such as Leonardo, Enel, and Banco BPM, who have supported the project’s evolution from both a technical and financial standpoint.

Looking ahead

Avanchair aims to build an integrated assisted mobility ecosystem, where Avanchair One connects with accessible furniture, smart trolleys, and autonomous electric vehicles to improve independence and accessibility in everyday environments for people with motor disabilities.

The incubation program with Bio4Dreams will offer strategic support to accelerate this growth, through networking opportunities, access to scientific and financial resources, and a strengthened market positioning.
