The startup NanoPhoenix is part of a consortium receiving Horizon Europe funds for the development of innovative gas detectors.

NanoPhoenix, as a partner in an international consortium, is participating in a project funded under the Horizon Europe program. The project, aimed at developing innovative gas detectors for safety applications, will receive a total of €1.6 million from the European Community, with a specific contribution of €110,000 for NanoPhoenix.

The startup, affiliated and incubated by Bio4Dreams, is specialized in developing micro and nanotechnology solutions for Life Sciences applications, particularly in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields.

Nanometric technologies and algorithms for next-generation gas detectors

The project focuses on developing innovative gas detectors for safety by leveraging the latest technologies based on nanometric powders and a multidisciplinary scientific approach.

Specifically, through the integration of signal processing algorithms and nanometric metal oxide sensors, the goal is to create a new generation of detectors that are more sensitive and faster than those currently available.

These detectors will function like “electronic noses“, with performance superior to their biological counterparts. Hence the project name, “Electron Nose.”

This effort is part of a broader plan to develop a global safety system, where detectors are integrated into mobile devices to detect localized threats such as epidemics, fires, and terrorist activities.

Expected outcomes include innovative patents on new materials and analytical methodologies, with applications in sensor technology, safety, and public health monitoring.

    The Consortium

NanoPhoenix joined the project as a partner in an international consortium composed of universities and leading research and innovation companies from several countries, including Serbia, Portugal, Turkey, Poland, and Ukraine. The consortium also includes associated partners from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
